Missions Sunday

On the 3rd Sunday of each month, the people of Norwood UMC give a special offering for missions, which is divided evenly among the following local and international ministries:

• The Ishe Anesu Project
  Sakubva, Mutare, Zimbabwe (10%)

• Wesley House Community Center
  Knoxville, TN (10%)

• Heifer International
  Little Rock, Arkansas (10%)

• Holston Hospital
  Yadgir, India (10%)

• UMCOR - United Methodist 
  Committee on Relief (10%)

• Red Bird Mission
  Kentucky (10%)

• Emerald Youth Foundation
  Tennessee (10%)

• Camp Gideon
  Ohio (10%)

• Habitat for Humanity
  Knoxville (10%)

• Undesignated (10%) distributed by our Missions Committee

UMC Board of Global Ministries

As part of the worldwide United Methodist Church, Norwood participates in many of the missions sponsored by the General Board of Global Ministries.

Knox Area Rescue Ministries

A number of our members volunteer their time and talents for this local mission organization and its Serenity Shelter, helping people in the Knoxville area who are suffering the effects of very difficult life circumstances.

Annual Pumpkin Patch

For 2 to 3 weeks each October, the people of Norwood UMC operate a Pumpkin Patch store.  All proceeds from the Pumpkin Patch are divided among four local schools.  In addition, local elementary classes and day care centers are invited to spend a day at the Pumpkin Patch, where they enjoy games, play on the playground, and pick a mini-pumpkin to take home.
